Walter “Buster” Wimpee

July 21, 1926 – April 12, 2015

Walter “Buster” Wimpee. age 88, died Sunday April 12, 2015 at the Medical Center at Scottsville.

The Allen County native was the son of the late Thomas Henry “Boss” Wimpee and Viola Myrtle Carter Wimpee and the husband of the late Martha Willoughby Wimpee.  He was preceded in death by sixteen brothers and sisters, Carline, Buddy, Christine, Donald, Doris Jean, Herbert, Lewis, Lois, Lena, Gracie, Nellie, Agnes, Stella, Bill, Lois, and Estelle and a nephew, raised as a brother, Jerry Wimpee.  Buster was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict. He went ashore in Normandy six days after the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 and fought across Europe in the 30 th Division 119 th Infantry.  He was a member of the Scottsville Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #208 F & AM and Halfrey Dalton V. F. W. #5712

He is survived by his two sons, Adair Wimpee and Jane Yokley of Scottsville, and David Wimpee and wife Judy of Alvaton, Ky., his daughter Darline Ashby and husband Ronnie of Beaver Dam Ky., five grandchildren, Wayne Wimpee, Kyle Wimpee, Erick Wimpee (Kendell), Ashley Mitts (Derek), and Ben Ashby, eight grandchildren, Preston, Carson, Kolton, Gavin, Kylee, Riley, Valeigh, and Connor and nephew, raised as a brother, Larry Wimpee, and an uncle William Wimpee.

Visitation begins at 4:00 PM Monday April 13, 2015 at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Masonic Service will be 8:00 PM Monday April 13, 2015 at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday April 14, 2015 at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Allen County Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Memorial Donations can be made to the Scottsville Baptist Church.
