Shirley Faye Pitchford Spears
October 29, 1926 - March 13, 2015
Shirley Faye Pitchford Spears, age 88, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at the
Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY.
The Allen County native was the daughter of the late Eunice Lee Stamps
Pitchford and Daniel Simmons Pitchford. Preceding her in death were
her brother, Joel Francis Pitchford and her husband, Douglas Wayne Spears.
Shirley and Douglas were married on July 19, 1945 after Douglas’ return
from World War II. They were married for 62 years. Shirley received a
Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University in 1962 and taught first
grade at Scottsville Elementary and Allen County Elementary for 27 years.
She dearly loved the little ones for whom she always had a smile and a kind
voice, and gave them a solid beginning in their education. She enjoyed
former students who visited her after she retired. She was a member of the
First United Methodist Church and the Patrick Gilmore Chapter DAR.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah Faye Spears Bashore and husband
Robert of Louisville, Danna Janette Spears Wilson and husband Michael of
Bowling Green, three grandchildren, Kathleen Wilson Griffin and husband
Travis of Medford, OR, Christopher Tyson Bashore and Robert Trent Bashore
of Louisville.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2015 at the T.W.
Crow and Son Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the T.W. Crow
and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern Kentucky and the fine staff at Hospice
House in Bowling Green, KY.
