Richard Wayne Vinson

December 30, 1934 – November 27, 2021

Richard Wayne Vinson, age 86, died peaceful at his home on Saturday November 27, 2021.

The Scottsville native was the son of the late James A. and Ruth T. Spears Vinson and was preceded in death by his son Kerry Vinson and grandson Brian Calvert.

An electrician and owner of Vinson Electric, Richard always seemed to have the part or wisdom to repair many broken things.  He loves God and served him with gladness as a member of Scottsville Baptist Church, serving in the choir and as deacon for many years.  Serving in the Gideons International was just one of the many ways he served the Lord outside the church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Vinson of Scottsville, two sons, Kenneth (Anne) Vinson of Scottsville and Kevin (Elizabeth) Vinson of Elizabethtown, KY, two daughters, Karen Lindsey and Karla (David) Calvert both of Scottsville, thirteen grandchildren; Sarah (Nuno) Norberto, Katherine (Corey) Bonds, Hannah (Jordan) Amburgey, Holli (Karlo) Paver, Conner Lindsey, Reese Vinson, Lynzi Bragg, Dezi (Michael) Powell, Sara (Jonathan) Sturdivant, Michelle Calvert, Emily Calvert, Daniel Calvert, and Katie Calvert, thirteen great grandchildren; Luca, Taylor, Allison, Paxton, Parker, Price, Jeremiah, Ezra, Landon, Amery, Addelyn, Liam, and Hope, one brother David Vinson of Hurricane, WV, one sister, Betty Taylor of Scottsville, KY and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday November 29, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Scottsville Baptist Church and Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday November 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Scottsville Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donation may be made to the Scottsville Baptist Church Music Ministry or the Gideons International.
