Edith Yates Parrish, age 96, died Thursday January 26, 2023 at home with her family.
Born on January 10, 1927, in Albuquerque New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Owen Thomas Yates and Bertha Eunice Centers Yates. Also preceding her in death is her husband, Euall Edward “Todd” Parrish, daughter Tish Richardson, and siblings, Owen T. Yates, Jr. and Elizabeth Dunn. Edith loved to travel, making it to 48 of the 50 United States and out of the country to the Holy Land and other places. At home she was our City Clerk for 17 years , a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the White Plains Baptist Church, where she played the organ and piano and taught the Women’s Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed sports with some of her favorite teams being the ACS Patriots, UK Wildcats and Atlanta Braves.
She is survived by her daughters Peggy Carter (Lex) and Jan Carter, her son Eddy Parrish (Nancy), seven grandchildren; Leslie, Brian, Melissa, Angie, David Todd, Beth, and Brooke, and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday January 28, 2023 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held Sunday January 29 at 2:00 PM at the T. W. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery.
