Billie Wayne Hurt
August 4, 1930 – May 18, 2018
Scottsville native, Billie Hurt age 87, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at home. He was the fifth of six children born to Sellus and Lottie Stone Hurt on August 4, 1930. His family’s lineage in Allen County dates back to the years after the Revolutionary War. He graduated from Allen County High School in 1948.
After service in the Air Force at Neah Bay, WA during the Korean Conflict he married Jeanne Albright in 1953 in Port Angeles, WA.
An avid cattleman, Billie was named Outstanding Young Farmer for KY in 1959 and later founded Hurt Real Estate. He completed 36 years of leadership to the Allen County Soil Conservation District and was designated a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International. He was a member of Scottsville Baptist Church.
Our father enjoyed swapping stories with his life-long friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 64 yrs., two daughters Jana Harston and husband, Phil, and Julie Hurt both of Charlotte, NC, grandson Drew Harston and wife, Carol, and three great grandsons of Louisville, a sister, Libby Flowers, of Glasgow and loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Todd, sisters Christine Powell and Anna Cooksey, and brothers Doug and James Hurt.
Visitation at T.W. Crow and Son Funeral Home will be Saturday May 19, 2018 from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM and Sunday 7:00 AM until funeral time. The family will be present all day Saturday and Sunday from noon thru funeral services.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday May 20, 2018 at T.W. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation, 1850 Taylor Ave., Suite #2, Louisville, KY 40213 and Scottsville Baptist Church.
